Mexico: Camp Oasis Van
Located in central Mexico on the outskirts of the city of Puebla, Camp Oasis has served churches, evangelical ministries, and countless campers for over 52 years. Last year, over 7,400 people visited the camp for retreats, meetings, church fellowships, baptisms, and youth camps. This ministry has also led to a new church plant that meets on the camp property in order to reach out to the surrounding areas with the light of Christ.
In March, the Camp utility van was stolen out of a parking lot at a shopping center. The van was fairly new to the camp and vital for camp operations, providing transportation for people, groceries, and needed supplies to and from the camp. Without the van, the staff have had to depend on their small personal vehicles, making transportation of needed materials and goods very difficult.
While the van was insured, the full value of the camp’s investment in the van will not be compensated. The van was a 1998 model purchased from a church. It required many repairs to become suitable for use by the camp.
Camp Oasis is seeking to raise funds to purchase a replacement van before the busy camp season begins. Avant has created a project to help provide the needed funds to buy a newer, more reliable 2011 model. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to meet this need. Would you prayerfully consider supporting the camp so that they can continue operating at full capacity?
