Committed to Preparing and Caring for Those Who Go
At Avant Ministries, we deeply invest in the training, coaching, and caring of those whom God calls to serve cross culturally with us. We hold a deep sense of responsibility in providing these resources for both our current missionaries serving abroad and those just beginning their journey with our organization. Our commitment ensures that they are equipped and supported as they respond to God’s call. Here are some of the ways we fulfill this mission.
First, we embrace each new member as part of the Avant family. Our commitment to pray and care for them is not just a private sentiment but a promise we make publicly. At each appointment service, the Avant staff stands and together pledges to walk alongside our new appointees, affirming our dedication to supporting them as co-laborers in Christ. These pledges reflect our genuine devotion to their well-being and spiritual journey. We prioritize care for them through our dedicated member care team, who provide individualized personal care for missionaries and their families. Our office staff begin each morning by praying for our overseas workers, and those in the process of going with Avant, by name. Our commitment for our Avant family stems from the love of God that He has placed in our hearts.
We are also committed to providing the training and resources our members need to help them be successful and to serve effectively. Our training covers a broad range of areas, including spiritual formation, discipleship, support raising, church planting, leadership development, and global security. Each aspect is designed to equip them with the essential skills and tools needed to serve cross-culturally. While we do provide them with different types of training, we also supplement this training with one-on-one coaching to equip them.
Ultimately, we rest in the promise of 2 Corinthians 3:4-6: “Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant.” We acknowledge that while we do our utmost from a human perspective to prepare and care for our missionaries, it is ultimately the Lord who sanctifies, enables, and protects our missionaries as they serve for His glory. It is also He who will continue to enable their ministry and develop them through His Word and His Spirit in them. We are honored to walk alongside our missionaries, sharing in their journey as they bring hope and transformation through the gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations.
